CloudChat is a production-deployed real-time cloud collaboration and messaging web application powered by React and Google Firebase Cloud Firestore. Designed to emulate the lightning-fast responsiveness of modern messaging protocols, it supports dynamic channel creation, real-time message stream synchronization, and single-sign-on (SSO) with Google Authentication.
With automated message timestamps, responsive multi-device layouts, and live presence indicators, CloudChat serves as a benchmark for high-reliability serverless chat systems.
The Challenges

Managing persistent state, real-time WebSocket listeners, and cross-client synchronization across distributed global users traditionally requires complex server clusters and message brokers. The goal was to build a lightning-fast, zero-maintenance, serverless architecture that scales seamlessly from 1 to 100,000 users.
The Solution
Serverless reactivity with Google Firebase Firestore.
Amethyst engineered CloudChat with React hooks and Context API, binding UI components directly to Firebase snapshot streams. Messages, channels, and user profile data synchronize instantly. The client incorporates Material Design icons, responsive drawer navigation for mobile devices, and automated timestamp formatting.
